At the top of the League, you will see a tab that says Challenge Teams.
Click on that to see the teams within your current ranking that are available to challenge.
Click on the Challenge This Team link to initiate a challenge.
In the next screen, you will be asked to provide a tentative date for the match to be played. The date must: be in the future, end in 00:00 (on the hour), and be before the round is schedule to end. After picking your date, press Submit Challenge to challenge the team.
The Team managers will receive an email notification of the challenge and a link to the match. On the match page they will have tabs to accept the challenge as is, or to counter the date. If they accept the date, the challenge is on for the date you submitted. If they counter the date, you then can either accept the date or counter yourself. Once both parties settle on the date of the match, the last party will click on the Accept Date tab and submit the final date. At this time the server reservations will go into effect.
For the time being, the time zone specified in ALL challenge email times will be specified in EST. I will fix this when I get around to it, but not having the objects that represents the opposing Team Managers all being the same could present interesting issues. Multiple managers for a team are allowed, and they may not be in the same country..
Both parties will be emailed with the match details, and will be expected to play on the date agreed upon. Once the date is accepted, you will loose the ability to change it. No two matches can take place at exactly the same time within the league currently, so this also functions as a server reservation.
Team Managers and Match Admins will automatically gain control over the match servers via the MGL website 5 minutes prior to the scheduled match time, until the end of the scheduled match time. Match timeslots are currently set to 1/2 hour, so it is imperitive that both partys are prompt!
To control the server, click on one of the Match Server links on the match page for the server you wish to control. At match time, a new tab will be accessible on that server page that says Control Server. Servers may be controlled in the following ways during this time: Server Restarts, Map changed, Status reported, Password randomly assigned, Password set to nothing. All activity is logged, so using this feature to restart a match that is already in progress without both parties consent will result in removal from the ladder.
Once the match has taken place, come back to the website and report your results.
Either party can report match results. After match results are reported, either Teams' managers will now have upload images priviledge granted for 24 hours after the match was scheduled to take place. After 24 hours, this access will cease to function.
Reporting of match results will be based on honor for the time being. Very shortly, this will not be an issue as I will be implementing a script written by Nite which will allow the server itself to report the match results. Reporting of false results will result in your removal from the ladder. If this happens more than once or twice in the interim, I will be coding it so that the alternate party must approve the match results, which will only delay everyone. Who wants to report a loss..
After some testing, I have limited the amount of ladder movement that can occur as the result of a single match. Scoring beyond 25 points over your opponent will have no additional effect.
After reporting results for the match, the ladder rankings for both Teams are automatically recalculated, and you may challenge again immediately.
